What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ticket Counter Baggage Assistant position at Prospect Airport Services?
Duties:
The duties of a ticket counter baggage assistant or VBC (vendor behind counter) include; assisting airline passengers with self-tagged luggage from airline kiosks, asking safety/security related questions, and transporting checked baggage to specified areas of the airport & lifting checked baggage on and off weight scales and baggage belt(s). Other duties include;
- Transporting checked luggage from a designated x-ray/screening machine to the baggage belts.
- Loading specific bags in luggage tubs, when applicable
- Periodically replenishing baggage tubs for the conveyor belts - must be available at all times
While performing the duties of this job, employees are frequently required to walk & stand for extended periods of time and must be able to repetitively lift and/or move items up to, and some times exceeding 50 lbs.
Additionally, all ticket counter agent assistants are cross-trained to perform the duties of an airport wheelchair assistant. This includes assisting passengers with disabilities and elderly passengers with wheelchair and baggage assistance, when needed. When performing these duties, the pay rate is $12.00/hr plus tips.
Available Shift(s):
- Mornings: 4:45 AM - 1:00 PM
- PM: 12:00 PM - 6:30 PM (will be extended to 8:00 PM in the Fall)
- Overnight: Not available
**Please note, for part-time the minimum requirement is three days (shifts) per week
Qualifications:
- Applicants must have a valid drivers license or state ID and be able to pass a federal background check
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to physically perform required work, including heavy and repetitive lifting
- Professional appearance
- Customer service skills
- Dependable, self motivated and responsible
- Ability to work a flexible, rotating schedule, including weekends
