What are the responsibilities and job description for the GOLF CREW position at Prospect Heights Park District?
SUMMARY:
The Golf Crew team members are responsible for various routine tasks related to golf operations. Specific responsibilities with four main focuses (pro shop attendant, golf cart attendant, ranger and starter) and all crew members are cross trained to perform all duties and tasks. There are specific expectations of all crew members 1. Great customer service: communicate effectively with customers to ensure satisfaction, learn and understand each customers needs, be responsible for the customer experience of all customers 2. Routine essential tasks: keep radio on at all times and make sure its charged each evening, pick up debris on golf course, cart pen and parking lot, keep adequate key supply in Pro Shop, count carts at closing time and maintain all carts (change tires, etc.)
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:
The Golf Crew will report directly to the supervisor on shift: Director of Golf and/or Head Golf Pro
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PRO SHOP ATTENDANT:

Performs office tasks and assists staff:
- Record daily play to computer and back-up the POS system:
- Answer incoming calls
- Book Tee Times
- Assist cashiers during peak times
- Z out cash registers and make deposits, record income
- Assist managing and book outings:
- Assist with cleaning of locker rooms
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR RANGER:

Ability to enforce the necessary golf course rules:
- Carts should be kept at least 30 feet away from all greens and on paths around tees. Carts should avoid yellow roped off areas
- No more than two (2) golfers, two (2) bags per cart
- Make sure divots are replaced and ball marks repaired
- Enforce dress code for patrons No tank tops, shirts and proper shoes required
- Driver of cart must be at least 16 years of age, NO EXCEPTIONS!
- No coolers allowed
- Police the course for trespassers, fishermen, ball hawkers, etc.
- Intermittently help wash and park carts
- Help any golfers with cart problems: radio for new cart
- Report any course maintenance problems to Management or Superintendent
- Handle any questions or complaints from customers courteously, refer customer to Management of necessary
- Help golfers locate lost balls
- Bring different cart to golfers who have stalled carts. Return broken cart, to cart pen and follow necessary maintenance procedures.
- Make sure bag room doors are locked at closing
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR GOLF CART ATTENDANT:
- Responsible for golf carts. When pulling carts for rental check the following:
- Has cart been charged?
- Does the cart operate in both forward and reverse?
- Are brakes working properly?
- Are tires inflated properly?
- Is there any unusual damage or sounds?
If there is a problem with any of the above, put cart aside and when time permits, record and fix the problem if possible. Notify Pro Shop if unable to fix cart.
- When carts are returned:
- Clean all debris and sweep out
- Inspect carts for any damage Notify Pro Shop IMMEDIATELY of any damage so Pro shop can take appropriate action towards making a claim against the driver
- Wash cart thoroughly
- Park carts in proper space and plug into charger Make sure charger is on!
- When customer drives up to drop area help them load or unload their golf bags from their car.
- Take golf bags and load or unload on to golf carts
- Make sure cart pen is locked and the alarm is turned on at end of day
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR STARTER:
- Ability to perform starting check-in policies:
- Start play
- Instruct all play about course rules
- Keep play on time from 1st tee
- Performs routine tasks.
- Assist cashier with check-in times
- Assist cart attendant when tee is open
- Log all play and post daily list to office
- Maintains effective two-way communication with immediate supervisors about course play and pace.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Attends staff and in-service training meetings.
- Assists with other golf course and Park District assigned duties.
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Possible stress while working irregular and overtime hours during peak times and working in public view. Ability to work within a diverse population and varied personalities. Able to be diplomatic when approaching customers regarding any problems on the course.
PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Able to lift or carry 75 pounds up to 50 yards, (lifting golf clubs in and out of car trunks and up and down off of golf carts) to walk long distances (>800 yards), and to stand for long periods of time (2-3 hours).
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Exposure to all weather conditions and chemicals that may be used in the maintenance of the course.
COGNITIVE AND SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS:
Responsible, with good communication skills, able to take directions and handle all tasks and equipment safely and with sound judgment.

Starting at $15/hr

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with golf courses, park and recreation facilities desired. Golf experience preferred; Minimal computer skills are required with the ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written directions. A valid Illinois drivers license is required to operate Prospect Heights Park District road vehicles. CPR/AED first-aid Certification and Mandated Reporter Training is required 30 days of hire date. Successful criminal background check must be completed prior to start date.`
