Primary Purpose:
The Community Engagement Coordinator - Technical plays a key role in fostering strong, transparent connections between the school district and its community. This position involves technical writing with cross-departmental collaboration on projects, community and stakeholder engagement, manages public records requests, and supports issue resolution. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, diplomatic, and skilled at handling sensitive information with discretion.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Education Administration, or a related field

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Technical Writing
1. Translate complex technical information into clear content accessible for end users.
2. Ensure information is both accurate and easy to understand.
3. Edit and proofread materials for accuracy, ensuring documentation complies with industry standards.
4. Provide creative solutions and expert-level reviews of content for structure, inconsistencies, technical and grammatical errors.
5. Provide perspective and alignment with District goals when refining, updating, correcting, and suggesting improvements for District material.
6. Cross-collaborate with District departments involved in writing projects from planning through completion.
7. Write, compose, design, and develop technical content for articles, templates, manuals, etc.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
8. Serve as a primary liaison between the school district and community members.
9. Represent the district at community events, board meetings, and public forums when appropriate.
10. Support and help coordinate community engagement initiatives such as town halls, bond election outreach, and strategic planning sessions.
11. Maintain positive, proactive relationships with parents, staff, and local stakeholders.
Compliance & Policy Awareness
12. Maintain current knowledge of Texas Education Agency (TEA) regulations, the Texas Public Information Act, and FERPA.
13. Ensure alignment with board policies and district procedures in all communication and engagement efforts.
14. Monitor updates to public records laws and make recommendations for district-wide best practices.
Public Records Management
15. Manage and fulfill public records requests in compliance with the Texas Public Information Act.
16. Coordinate with internal departments to locate, review, and compile responsive documents.
17. Review records for confidentiality and responsiveness prior to release.
18. Maintain detailed documentation of all records requests and disclosures.
19. Provide guidance to staff on public information request protocols and best practices.
Issue Resolution & Conflict Management
20. Lead the issue resolution process to address concerns from parents, staff, and community members in a timely, effective manner.
21. Facilitate constructive conversations to prevent issue escalation.
22. Document all concerns and track resolution outcomes to ensure follow-through.
23. Provide support and guidance to campuses on handling community concerns and grievances.
