What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gifted & Talented Facilitator - Curriculum & Instruction (2024-2026) position at Prosper ISD?
Primary Purpose:
Provide instructional coaching to GT Specialists to enhance instruction for gifted and advanced students. Build teacher capacity through job-embedded professional learning, focusing on effective GT instructional practices and data analysis. Support the GT identification process, contribute to curriculum development for gifted learners, serve as a resource for assessment strategies, and act as a liaison between campuses and the GT coordinator to ensure program quality and compliance with state requirements.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with GT supplemental
Master’s Degree preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Expertise in GT instruction and sheltered instructional strategies for gifted/high ability students
- Strong understanding of instructional coaching models and GT program requirements (state/federal)
- Knowledge of best practices, assessment tools, and data analysis for gifted education
- Ability to support Professional Learning Communities and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Three (3) or more years of specialized teaching experience with gifted/high ability students
Five (5) or more years of classroom teaching experience across multiple grade levels, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Management
1. Collaboratively develop and deliver professional development focused on best practices for GT instruction.
2. Provide one-on-one and small group instructional coaching on effective GT strategies and sheltered instruction practices.
3. Support teachers with the implementation of strategies.
4. Model effective teaching practices through co-teaching and demonstration lessons.
5. Provide support in the GT referral and identification process.
6. Co-lead GT team meetings as needed.
7. Support onboarding of new GT Team members in processes and procedures.
Communication
8. Contribute to a positive professional environment that fosters trusting relationships conducive to instructional coaching.
9. Establish and maintain professional and supportive relationships with teachers, administrators, and families of gifted students.
10. Serve as a liaison between campus staff and the GT Coordinator.
Professional Growth and Development
11. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
12. Stay abreast of current research and best practices in GT instruction
13. Participate in ongoing collaboration between the GT department and other departments
14. Attend and participate in meetings and serve on committees as required.
Other
15. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
16. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
