As Area Sales Manager, we are seeking a dynamic and results-driven individual to lead and coordinate sales strategies across Hyatt House, Hyatt Place, and Cortona Inn & Suites in Anaheim. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in multi-property sales management within the hospitality industry, demonstrating exceptional negotiation skills, budget management expertise, and the ability to foster collaboration among diverse teams. This role demands a strategic thinker who can drive revenue growth, build strong client relationships, and align property-level sales initiatives with overarching organizational goals.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):

As the Area Sales Manager, you will be pivotal in driving revenue growth and enhancing the hotel's market presence through strategic sales and marketing initiatives.

  • Sales Strategy: Solicit group and transient business for all three properties, achieving and exceeding annual room revenue goals. Develop tailored sales strategies to maximize opportunities across multiple market segments.
  • Client Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with clients through proactive sales calls, site visits, and industry networking events. Rebook past business and expand the client base.
  • Event Representation: Represent Hyatt House, Hyatt Place, and Cortona Inn at trade shows, conventions, and local events to identify new leads and develop strong partnerships.
  • Negotiation Skills: Effectively negotiate contracts and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Maintain a professional and strategic approach, making informed decisions even with limited information.
  • Budget Management: Achieve and surpass annual budget targets for all three properties, while understanding and adapting to year-over-year budget growth. Display maturity in managing the ups and downs of the budgeting process.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with operational teams at each property to ensure clear communication of sales commitments and deliver exceptional guest experiences.
  • Interpersonal Leadership: Foster a unifying culture across the three hotels, building strong, cohesive relationships with team members and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Data-Driven Sales: Leverage CRM systems and sales tools to analyze trends, maintain accurate sales records, and provide actionable insights to guide decision-making.
  • Market Knowledge: Monitor competitor activities and market trends to identify opportunities and maintain a competitive edge for each property.
  • Flexibility: Have the skills to change approaches and adapt to new strategies in a dynamic market sales environment. Maintain availability to adjust schedules and meet client needs beyond regular business hours while fostering an experimental attitude.
  • Generate Reports: Create and present detailed sales reports, analyzing performance metrics to guide strategy and decision-making.
  • Collaboration with DOS: Work closely with the Directors of Sales (DOS) to address and resolve any challenges proactively. Maintain open communication and ensure that any potential issues are brought to your attention first before being escalated to others. Foster a collaborative relationship to achieve shared goals and support the sales team effectively.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • At least one year of experience as a Sales Manager, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple properties or accounts effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Expertise in contract negotiation, with the ability to build trust and achieve win-win outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in exceeding revenue and budget goals.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and sales management tools.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to manage diverse teams across multiple locations.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings, trade shows, and sales events.


Physical Demands:

The Area Sales Manager must possess a combination of physical and mental skills to effectively drive sales strategies and marketing initiatives. This role involves active participation in physical activities such as attending networking events, client meetings, and conducting site tours. It requires stamina, the ability to transport materials, and proficiency with presentation tools and software.   • Proficiency in using presentation tools, marketing materials, and digital platforms to conduct sales pitches and marketing campaigns.
  • Capability to lift and transport marketing collateral, promotional materials, and presentation equipment weighing up to 25 lbs, ensuring safe handling and transport within the hotel premises.
  • Skilled use of customer relationship management (CRM) software, marketing analytics tools, and safety equipment to maintain operational standards and guest satisfaction.
  • Effective communication with team members, management, and clients to coordinate sales activities, report progress, and ensure smooth operations.
  • Readiness to address a wide range of client needs and inquiries, providing swift and effective solutions to maintain client satisfaction.
  • Keeping workspaces, meeting rooms, and presentation areas tidy, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Working closely with other hotel departments, including housekeeping and front office, to ensure a cohesive and well-maintained environment for guests.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the hotel's operational needs and ensure continuous service excellence.
