POSITION PURPOSE
The Treasury Manager position is primarily responsible for the bank’s interest rate risk (IRR) modeling process. The individual also plays a key role in the bank’s overall asset liability management (ALM) program and works closely with the Chief Investment Officer and ALCO on such things as product pricing, balance sheet management and profitability initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Responsible for the bank’s IRR model.
- Serves as one of the bank’s subject matter experts with respect to the IRR model. Must be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of how the model functions, the assumptions being used in the model and how model output would be impacted by changes in the balance sheet, assumptions and interest rates.
- Ensures the timely and accurate analysis of IRR results including monthly IRR measurements such as Earnings at Risk (EaR) and Economic Value of Equity (EVE).
- Responsible for model assumptions and inputs including ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Responsible for ALCO and Board reporting and presentations in the areas of IRR, policy compliance, profitability, liquidity and related topics.
- Must stay up-to-date with respect to regulatory guidance relating to IRR, model risk management (MRM) and annual validation requirements.
- Participates in the capital stress testing process
- Assists with other Treasury department projects, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s in business, finance, economics or a related field. A MBA, FRM or CFA designation preferred.
Required Knowledge:
Recent “hands on” experience with an IRR model in a banking environment (experience with the HBS Profit Manager model would be ideal)
Familiarity with data management and database concepts
Working knowledge of fixed-income securities and related principles
Familiarity with risk management concepts
Knowledge or relevant regulatory requirements including guidance on MRM
Good grasp of basic accounting concepts
Experience Required:
A minimum of 5 years of Treasury experience working in a commercial bank in the areas of IRR modeling, capital stress testing and/or liquidity risk management. Experience at a $10 billion or larger bank would be ideal as well as experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
Skills/Abilities:
Strong quantitative and analytical skills including statistical analysis (e.g., regression analysis)
Good project management and organizational skills
Advanced computer skills with a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Good attention to detail
