Responsible for managing the Tool Department and Tools team must provide the technical knowledge with computing hardware, multiple OS environments, software installation, virtual machine support, computer networking, and telecommunication equipment. Create policies and procedures for computer builds recommendation, to include aftermarket automotive diagnostic tools and Original Equipment (O.E.) tooling and software.
Role & Responsibilities
Responsible for managing the Tool Department and Tools team must provide the technical knowledge with computing hardware, multiple OS environments, software installation, virtual machine support, computer networking, and telecommunication equipment. Create policies and procedures for computer builds recommendation, to include aftermarket automotive diagnostic tools and Original Equipment (O.E.) tooling and software.
Role & Responsibilities
- Assist with procuring tools, software, equipment, and any hardware needed to complete tool setup to include laptops, cell phones, tablets
- Complete equipment requests and concerns for multiple departments to include computer/laptop hardware and software, virtual machine support, computer networking, and telecommunications
- Assist with the allocation and user assignments to track inventory of diagnostic tools and equipment
- Handle the warranty and repair process on tools
- Assist with yearly and monthly subscriptions with all the tools, resource websites and automobile manufactures
- Ensure the team is providing technical support for company to include Protech Corporate and Field Technicians to diagnose, repair, and/or replace equipment/software
- Assist in making recommendations for modifications or additions to computer/laptop systems, hardware components, and software applications
- Effectively communicate and create detailed documentation to complete tasks and share information with peers, supervisors, and outside vendors
- Create computer imagines and ensure the team can install software, setup computers/laptops, printers, and other peripherals as directed
- Proficient In:
- Windows OS
- Android OS
- Active Directory
- VirtualBox and other virtual machine environments
- Acronis & Dell image tools
- Office/Microsoft 365
- Remote services (TeamViewer & Bomgar)
- Servicing Dell Latitude and Panasonic Toughbook PCs
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- 5 years’ experience providing technical support, automotive repairs and automotive software
- Knowledge of Aftermarket and OE diagnostic scan tools and factory software
- Knowledge and ability to use computers, mobile devices, and related technology efficiently
- Must be proficient in OEM ideology from all the automobile manufactures
- Must become proficient in OEM software from all the automobile manufactures
- Understand vehicle communication protocol
- Understand OEM passthrough devices and applications
- Understand aftermarket concepts and applications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Self -motivated, positive attitude, with a customer focused vision
- Experience in automotive technology preferred
- Requires standing for extended periods of time with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, and stooping
- Extensive travel within assigned area may be required
- Ability to pass a background check & MVR
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds independently
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Required to wear protective safety equipment
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
- Extended and/or weekend hours maybe be required
