POSITION OVERVIEW
Proterra is seeking a Sr. Accountant to oversee the Management Company accounting for global accounting and reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for consolidated Proterra results. This role will apply accounting standards, company accounting guidelines and internal controls, while communicating actively with the accounting team and management. Responsibilities will comprise the following broad areas:
RESPONSIBILITIES
MONTH END ACCOUNTING, RECONCILIATIONS, AND ANALYSIS
i. Oversee the global Management Company month end close and consolidation:
i(a) Calculate and prepare entries for the US office activity in Business Central, including Management Fees, Intercompany and related party transactions, accruals, fixed assets, T&E, O&O and prepaid expenses
i(b) Oversee UK entity activity and financials, and own the relationship with the 3rd party service provider
i(c) Prepare and analyze balance sheets and income statements to ensure financials are complete and accurate
i(d) Prepare, analyze and distribute monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements to senior leaders
ii. Oversee foreign office activity and sub advisory calculations for accuracy;
iii. Oversee the Fund Expense Recharge process; and
iv. Provide accounting support and guidance to financial analysts in the U.S. and Singapore.
BUDGETING, FORECASTING AND REPORTING
i. Manage the development and analysis of the consolidated global Management Company budget and forecast process;
ii. Generate and analyze consolidated company financial statements and budget-to-actual variances, and provide commentary for senior leaders; and
iii. U.S. cash forecasting (manage).
OTHER AD HOC PROJECTS AND TASKS
i. Oversee other ad hoc accounting team tasks including audits, regulatory reporting, tax, system accounting maintenance, and process improvements;
ii. Liaise with Operations and Fund accounting teams on a variety of activities including management fees, capital calls, and fund launch expenses;
iii. Own and Manage the administration of Concur; and
iv. Oversee weekly AP process for coding accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in accounting;
- 5 years’ experience with Management Accounting with a financial institution or related industry;
- Strong working knowledge of Concur and Excel;
- Strong technical accounting skills, working knowledge of GAAP, and commitment to internal controls;
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple demands and priorities and have demonstrated the ability to anticipate problems and communicate alternatives to resolve them;
- Well-developed interpersonal & communication skills with the ability to speak with impact and influence outcomes;
- Demonstrated attention to detail;
- Applicants must be presently legally authorized to work in the United States for any U.S. employer; and
- Position is not eligible for employment-based visa sponsorship.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Working knowledge of Business Central and Jet Reports.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The expected annual salary range for this position is $82,500 - $93,000 USD. Within the range, individual pay is determined by various factors including but not limited to education, job-related skills and experience. This role is also eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, healthcare plan, 401(k) matching program, and flexible paid time off.
This role is based in Minneapolis, MN and is not eligible for relocation.
