Organizational Overview
Providence Animal Center (PAC) is located on a 7-acre campus in Media, PA, with a satellite location in Radnor, PA, home to Francisvale Home for Smaller Animals on a 13-acre property. PAC oversees a national mobile spay / neuter program called Fido Fixers and provides high-quality services to over 22,000 animals annually through various initiatives, including adoptions, a low-cost Wellness Clinic, and a Medical Surgery Suite, along with free or low-cost clinics throughout Delaware County and the City of Philadelphia. The center successfully completed a $4.3 million capital campaign to rebuild its Media campus and raises approximately $2.5 million each year as a fully privately funded organization. With a dedicated team of about 85 staff members, interns, and residents, PAC maintains a strong partnership with the University of Pennsylvania Vet School, serving as a training site with faculty from Penn. This commitment to animal welfare and community service underscores PAC's vital role in promoting responsible pet ownership and improving the lives of animals in the region.
Summary of Responsibilities
The Major Gift Officer focuses on the cultivation and solicitation of individuals who have the greatest capacity for supporting Providence Animal Centers and Francisvale Home for Smaller Animals’ programs. The Major Gift Officer relates to donors who require the most deftly carried-out cultivation, leading to the solicitation of major outright and planned gifts. The Major Gift Officer coordinates the involvement of advancement leadership and staff, program staff, and volunteers in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors.
Accountability
This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer / Interim Chief Advancement Officer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Raise funds for all work of the organizations through the carefully planned cultivation and solicitation of individuals who have the means to make large ($5,000 ) outright, blended, or planned gifts.
- Utilizing prospect research and through discussions with donors, staff, and board members, qualify prospects’ capacity to make major / planned gifts.
- Increase current donors’ or prospects’ interest in and financial commitment to the organizations through visits, calls, letters, and donor engagement activities. Interpret the work of the organizations in articulate, compelling, and creative ways.
o The Major Gift Officer should have an active portfolio of 50-75 donors and prospects.
o The Major Gift Officer is expected to make 25-30 in-person solicitations per year.
