Position Overview: Providence Country Club, located in Charlotte, NC, is seeking applications for the position of Director of Catering. Candidates should have a proven record of maintaining positive guest relationships and ensure banquet functions are executed in accordance with guest specifications. Additionally, candidates should have a track record of consistently exceeding sales quotas and targets over time. The ability to work in a team atmosphere is a must.
Responsibilities: The scope of the below mentioned responsibilities only outline just a portion of the job duties required and are not limited to the following. As an active member of the extended Club Management Team, this position works hand-in-hand with all management departments of the Club as well as with McConnell Golf’s Communications & PR Team. This position provides direct assistance to the Clubhouse Manager.
Position Summary: The Director of Catering (DOC) promotes the club’s catering facilities for private banquets, especially weddings, mitzvahs, corporate events/retreats and other activities. He/She constantly prospects for new catering clients, making cold calls when necessary. The DOC will offer tours and suggestions to prospective clients in order to promote the merits of the club’s facilities. The DOC should be a valued asset to the client, offering suggestions and recommending vendors. The DOC will procure business, book events, develop contracts and banquet event orders, and communicate the clients’ needs to the food and beverage team.
The DOC also oversees the operational execution of some events and assures that client expectations are exceeded. Appropriate follow up, including calls/visits to asses client needs is required.
The DOC will work closely with the Clubhouse Manager, Executive Chef, and Banquet Manager to create accurate, detailed event orders and is responsible for maintaining past and potential client files, assisting in developing the catering budget and contracting for and collecting payment from clients.
The DOC also develops the social club calendar of events with the Clubhouse Manager and assists with creation and marketing of the events.
Principal Duties/Tasks:
- Manage catering sales department and all events booked at the club
- Organize Catering revenues tracking as well as lead management and follow up
- Conduct site visits for potential clients
- Process all bookings and details for events; ensure client details are followed
- Research and contact potential clients to ensure catering revenues are met; cold calling/visiting businesses may be required
- Organize and coordinate all materials and set up for Bridal/Mitzvah Shows
- Keep up to date records of all leads and revenue sources
- Create custom menus and proposals for clients on an as needed basis
- Ensure all events are executed to meet or exceed PCC standards of excellence
- Plan and implement marketing strategies to ensure club meets all catering goals

Salaried or Hourly: Base Salary plus Commission
Required Work Experience:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university; preferably with an emphasis in Hospitality
- 2-3 Years Catering Sales Experience as a Manager or Director
- Required Education: Degree in Hospitality Management or Equivalent is Preferred
- Required Certifications/Licenses: Driver’s License
