Job Summary:

The Special Education Teacher - MTSS Coordinator is a dual-role position responsible for providing direct instructional support to students with disabilities while overseeing the implementation of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework within the school or district. This role involves designing and delivering individualized education programs (IEPs/CSEPs), collaborating with general education staff, and facilitating a multi-tiered support system to ensure all students receive the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support they need to succeed. The position requires expertise in special education, data-driven decision-making, and leadership to promote an inclusive and equitable learning environment.

Job Responsibilities:

Special Education

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Choice Scholarship Education Plans (CSEPs) for students entering private high school with an IEP who deny FAPE. Maintain CSEPs for current students holding annual case conferences.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and agencies
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other team members to support positive outcomes for all
  • Assess student progress through formal and informal monitoring. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and CSEP goals, and communicate progress to families and school teams.

MTSS

  • Oversee the development and implementation of the MTSS framework, ensuring alignment with school goals
  • Maintain a Data Dashboard and oversee the referral process. Lead MTSS team meetings, guiding school staff in data-driven decision-making and problem-solving to address student needs.
  • Facilitate progress monitoring, and data analysis to identify students in need of Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 interventions.
  • Support and coach teachers in delivering high-quality Tier 1 instruction and implementing research-based interventions for Tiers 2 and 3.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of MTSS interventions, using data to refine processes and improve student outcomes.

Test Coordinator

  • Planning and Scheduling: Coordinate testing dates, times, and locations for WIDA, ILEARN Biology, SAT, and AP exams, ensuring minimal disruption to the school schedule
  • Staff Coordination: Recruit, train, and assign proctors, monitors, or other testing staff, ensuring they understand the specific rules and procedures for each assessment
  • Communication: Inform students, parents, and staff about testing dates, requirements, and procedures. Provide clear instructions and updates as needed
  • Materials Management: Order, receive, secure, and distribute test materials (e.g., test booklets, answer sheets, or digital access codes) while maintaining strict confidentiality and security protocols Exam Ordering: Order AP exams through the College Board’s AP Registration and Ordering system, ensuring accurate counts and versions
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and testing organization guidelines (e.g., College Board for SAT/AP, Indiana DOE for ILEARN, WIDA consortium policies)
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student participation, accommodations, and any irregularities during testing.
  • Accommodations Management: Collaborate with the school’s SSD or special education team to implement accommodations (e.g., extended time, translated directions) across all assessments

Mission

  • Prays with and for students, families and colleagues and their intentions.
  • Models the example of Jesus, the Master Teacher, in what He taught, how He lived, and how He treated others.
  • Participates in religious instruction and Catholic formation, including Christian services, offered at the school. Non-Catholic teachers are expected to participate to the fullest extent possible (e.g., non-Catholics would come forward to receive a blessing instead of Holy Communion in the Catholic Mass).

Role: Professional Growth and Development

  • Commits to lifelong learning and demonstrates a passion for ongoing professional growth and development.
  • Meets the Archdiocese of Indianapolis’s professional growth requirements and all local requirements as determined by the principal and/or his/her designee(s).
  • Participates fully in faculty meetings and professional development meetings/in-services, contributes to school-wide goals, and supports colleagues and administrators in their own professional growth.
  • Participates in spiritual retreats, days of reflection, and spiritual formation programs as directed by the principal and as required by Archdiocesan faith formation expectations.

Role: Additional Professional Responsibilities

  • Follows local protocol as published in the faculty/staff handbook, student/family handbook, and in other related policies, protocols, rules and regulations.
  • Serves on school committees and in other capacities as directed by the school principal.
  • Assists as requested with school fundraisers and development efforts.
  • Prepares for, attends, and participates in Registration, Open House, annual fundraiser, graduation, etc. as directed by the school principal.
  • Prepares, attends, and participates in specific events/programs/initiatives, etc.

Outcomes/Measures of Success over next 12 months

  • Special Education: Students demonstrate measurable improvement in academic skills
  • MTSS: a reduction in the number of students requiring Tier 2 or Tier 3 interventions due to effective Tier 1 instruction and early support.
  • Test Coordination: Success is ultimately reflected in a well-executed process that supports student achievement and maintains the integrity of the testing program.

Additional Education/Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education; Master’s degree in Education
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a special education teacher; prior experience with MTSS
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
  • Expertise in the MTSS framework, including tiered interventions, data analysis, and progress monitoring.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and leadership skills to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret and use data to inform instruction and intervention planning.
  • Safe Parish Child Protection Training (provided by PCR)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
