The Associate Director will assist the Director in all areas of safety and security and be able to take the lead and make immediate and command decisions in the Director’s absence or immediate availability. The Associate Director will coordinate and oversee all third-party vendors as it relates to the security and safety of the campus. The Associate Director will work directly with the Summer Program Head to meet the safety, traffic, and security needs for the Summer Programs.

Essential Functions
- Responsible for coordinating and overseeing all third-party and contracted vendors that involve the safety and security of the campus.
- Responsible for standing in and acting as Director when necessary and whenever the Director is unavailable or off-campus; and will be expected to use independent discretion and judgment to make immediate decisions that affect the safety of the campus.
- Assists with hiring, training and managing all full and part-time employees within the safety and security division.
- Attends all meetings that involve planning of events on campus that relate to the safety and security division. For example, the weekly calendar meeting.
- Maintains contact and is accessible to school Administrators via mobile device and/or two-way radio during both regular hours and after hours.
- Assists with investigations of incidents that involve the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Assists with security coverage for all school events.
- Responsible for managing traffic and traffic assignments on campus.
- Assists with carpool and special event parking as needed.
- Responds to requests related to safety and security by school administrators, parents, and other visitors.
- Works with the Director to stagger times he/she is on campus to allow for maximum coverage. This may include evenings and weekends.
- Participates and assists in all tabletop exercises and campus-wide drills.
- Has a working knowledge of appropriate control panels, alarms, cameras, access control, campus-wide notification, and other related equipment/systems.
- Experience and knowledge on school safety including but not limited to threat assessment, active threat response, emergency preparedness, digital safety, conflict resolution etc.
- Assists in the recommendation, development, and implementation of improvements to security procedures, equipment, and systems.
- Serves as a contact/responder for campus security system provider.
- Assists in providing continuous monitoring of campus property including inspection of all doors, windows, and gates. Including oversight of CMPD officers on campus.
- Work directly with the Summer Program Head and oversee the safety, traffic and security for the Summer Programs.
- Has a working knowledge and is able to use:
- Access Control (currently DNA Fusion) - supportive role
- Communication systems (currently Bright Arrow, P.A. system, Stopit911, Perry Weather, Bluepoint Alert)
- CPTED
- Fire Systems (currently Siemen and Eagle Fire) – supportive role
- Video surveillance (currently Verkada)
- Visitor management system (currently Raptor Technologies)
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Working knowledge of law enforcement methods, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to work in a TK-12th grade environment and develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Faculty/Staff and Students.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to assist in the development and training on a variety of topics.
- Knowledge of communication, cameras, access controls, and other security systems.
- Ability to work closely with the Director, and to step in as lead when necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree or Military Experience is preferred; high school diploma required with a minimum of ten years of law enforcement experience.
- Skilled conflict management and resolution skills and ability to handle crisis situations.
- Must be willing to maintain excellent working relationships with local law enforcement.
- Be able to carry concealed a weapon and will seek annual recertification through local law enforcement agencies. (HR 218 eligible)
- Good general physical condition.
- Ability to walk flights of stairs and the entire campus and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Varied hours/schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
