This position is a full-time teaching position beginning August, 2025.
Responsibilities: The Middle School History Teacher will report to the Head of Middle School and to the Middle School History Department Chair and will be responsible for teaching four History classes to students in sixth (Ancient Civilizations) and seventh (US History) grades. In addition to the normal teaching responsibilities, this teacher will advise a group of 10 students, provide supervision throughout the day, and perform periodic duty assignments (lunch, traffic, detention, etc.). Leading a club or coaching a sport is also highly encouraged.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in History and three or more years of direct teaching experience in the field is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have a strong academic background, and possess proficient technology skills. The candidate should have superb organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as a team member.
Salary and Benefits: Providence Day School is committed to attracting and retaining outstanding employees through a compensation plan that compares favorably with those of other independent schools both locally and nationwide. Individual salary levels are competitive and are determined by educational background and experience. A full benefits package includes TIAA retirement and medical/dental coverage.
