Description
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) plays a vital role in the healthcare team, utilizing the Synergy Model to facilitate a multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach in providing patient care. This professional is responsible for promoting excellence in nursing practice through the implementation of clinical standards and establishing competency standards for staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act within the nurse-patient, nurse-nurse, and nurse-system spheres to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Facilitate patient care consultation and provide resources to assess the impact of appropriate practice on patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate a firm knowledge base and clinical expertise as a clinical resource.
This position requires a Master's Degree from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Additionally, Alaska Registered Nurse License and current certification as CNS are required upon hire. Experience in the specialty area with at least 3 years of registered nursing experience is also necessary.
