The successful candidate must demonstrate proficiency in the areas of recruitment and retention of swimmers,

Be skilled in teaching stroke technique, and be able to motivate and work effectively with athletes of all ages and abilities.

Previous coaching experience is preferred.

USA Swimming certifications. ASCA Level 2 minimum preferred

Job Goal
The Jackson Public Schools (JPS) Swim Team is a growing active year-round swimming program for swimmers in the 7th – 12th grade from 10 middle schools and 7 high schools, with a current enrollment of 30 swimmers.
Essential Functions

Develops the skills and talents of team members, promotes teamwork and sportsmanship, and encourages personal development.

Responsible for all aspects of the swimmers’ training, including setting up swimmer groups, practice levels, workouts, practice durations, and goal setting.

Responsible for attending team swim meets each year, making swimmer event selections, and entries via Meet Manager.

Works with the JPS athletic department to host at least one home meet each year.

Foster positive relationships, mentor, and communicate well with the existing coaching staff, swim team members, and parents.

Responsible for attending all MHSAA required meetings and functions.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
