The Materials Manager leads and mentors the teams responsible for production control planning and scheduling, inventory control, procurement, and shipping and receiving.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee and ensure proper production control planning and scheduling programs meet sales forecasts and balance with the level of manpower and machines required. Significant interaction with sales and manufacturing is essential.
- Manage physical inventory accuracy and maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure on time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation costs. Interface effectively and routinely with production scheduling.
- Manage the procurement of materials and supplies to ensure they meet company specifications and quality standards. Identify opportunities for cost saving initiatives and other process improvements.
- Develop staff and communicate effectively with others to optimize performance and achieve production, inventory and shipping commitments.
- Coordinate shipping and receiving functions and oversee the storage of purchased parts and finished goods.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or Operations Management.
- 5 years of experience in Materials, Sourcing, and Production Control. At least two years in an MRP environment.
- APICS/CPIM certification or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong sense of urgency
