Job Summary
Provive Wellness of Wayne is seeking a dedicated Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor to provide high-quality, evidence-based treatment to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This position is responsible for conducting assessments, facilitating group and individual therapy sessions, developing and monitoring treatment plans, and maintaining detailed and accurate clinical documentation. The counselor will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care that supports each client’s recovery journey.
Responsibilities
The Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor will:
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to determine treatment needs and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients.
- Facilitate structured group therapy sessions, providing psychoeducation, coping strategies, and therapeutic interventions to support recovery.
- Provide individual counseling sessions as needed, utilizing evidence-based practices such as motivational interviewing and relapse prevention techniques.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Regularly review and update treatment plans to reflect client progress and evolving needs.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, medical professionals, and case managers to provide integrated care and support client success.
- Assist clients in identifying and accessing community resources, such as employment assistance, peer recovery support, and housing services.
- Ensure crisis intervention strategies are effectively implemented when needed to prioritize client safety.
- Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing training to enhance clinical skills and stay informed on best practices in addiction treatment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field required.
- Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or equivalent required; CAADC preferred.
- Active licensure in Pennsylvania.
- Minimum of one year of experience in substance use treatment; experience with co-occurring disorders is a plus.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and strong clinical documentation skills.
- Knowledge of ASAM criteria, DSM-5 diagnostic guidelines, and evidence-based treatment approaches.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
