Position Summary
The Mental Health Therapist provides therapeutic services to individuals, families, and groups in a behavioral health treatment center. This role involves assessing client needs, developing treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based interventions to promote mental health and wellness. The ideal candidate will adhere to professional ethical standards, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate a commitment to the recovery and well-being of clients.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to evaluate client needs and establish a diagnosis.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to client goals.
Provide evidence-based therapy, including individual, group, and family counseling.
Utilize therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, trauma-focused therapy, or other appropriate modalities.
Facilitate crisis intervention and stabilization as needed.
Documentation and Compliance
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with state, federal, and organizational standards, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality regulations.
Collaborate with administrative staff for billing and insurance purposes.
Collaboration and Coordination
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure comprehensive client care.
Coordinate care with external providers, such as psychiatrists, primary care physicians, and social services.
Advocate for client needs and connect clients to community resources and support systems.
Professional Development
Attend regular supervision and training to maintain licensure and stay updated on best practices in the field.
Adhere to professional ethical guidelines, such as those outlined by the NASW, ACA, or APA.
Qualifications
Education and Licensure
Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field (required).
Licensure in Pennsylvania (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent) or eligibility for licensure (required).
Certification in specialized therapeutic approaches (preferred but not required).
Experience
Experience providing therapy in a behavioral health or clinical setting (preferred).
Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and trauma-informed care (preferred).
Skills and Competencies
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
Ability to build rapport and maintain therapeutic relationships with diverse populations.
Effective communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and standard office software.
Work Environment
