The Water Sources Section of the Provo City Water Resources Division in the Public Works Department is looking for responsible individuals to fill the position of part-time seasonal Water Sources Laborer. Theses assignments are seasonal and run from May to November. Qualified, civic-minded individuals interested in providing labor in the Water Resources division are encouraged to apply.
Job Duties
What is the compensation?
Pay Rate: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour (depending on experience)

What will I do?
- Maintain all water production facilities and spring areas.
- Repair water lines. Build and repair fences.
- Trim trees.
- Perform concrete construction work and reservoir maintenance.
- Assist other crew members as needed and perform other related work as required.
- May also be required to operate a backhoe, boom truck, jet machine, and weed burner.
What do I need to apply?
- Any training or experience that would demonstrate an ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Applicant must have sufficient physical strength and agility to complete the work tasks successfully and safely.
- Valid, lawful driver license.
- Preference given to applicants with a commercial driver license.
What are the hours and position duration?
Up to forty (40) hours per week, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. May – November 2025.
What are the physical and environmental factors?
This work requires climbing ladders, bending, carrying, occasional heavy lifting (up to 75 lbs.), loading, digging holes and other excavations, working in the river, working in confined spaces, and being exposed to adverse weather conditions, high noise levels, and pesticides.
What is the selection process?
This position is open until filled and will be closed when sufficient, qualified applications to proceed with a competitive selection process have been received (at least seven days). Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
