Job Overview:
We are looking for a talented and experienced CNC Programmer to support our aerospace manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in CNC programming using Siemens NX software for high-precision aerospace components. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing CNC programs to ensure the efficient production of complex aerospace parts with the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- CNC Programming: Develop and optimize CNC programs using Siemens NX for a variety of aerospace components, ensuring that all programs meet design specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.
- Tool Path Development: Create efficient tool paths for CNC machining, ensuring that all operations are optimized for speed, accuracy, and material usage while minimizing machine wear and cycle times.
- Program Testing: Run simulations and verify CNC programs using Siemens NX to ensure proper functionality, accuracy, and safety before programs are sent to production machines.
- Collaboration with Engineering and Production Teams: Work closely with engineers, designers, and machinists to review part drawings, resolve technical issues, and ensure the successful execution of CNC programs on the shop floor.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and refine CNC programming practices to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance the overall quality of machined parts.
- Tool Selection and Setup: Assist in selecting appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds, and ensure the tools are set up properly on machines to maintain consistency and precision.
- Troubleshooting: Provide support to the production team by troubleshooting and resolving programming issues, machine errors, or part inconsistencies that may arise during machining.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of CNC programs, tool paths, part setups, and any modifications made to the original designs.
- Compliance: Ensure all work complies with aerospace industry standards (AS9100, FAA, ITAR) and follows shop policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- 3 years of CNC programming experience, specifically in the aerospace industry.
- Extensive experience with Siemens NX for CNC programming, including 3D modeling, toolpath creation, and simulation.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining operations, tooling, and fixture setups.
- Familiarity with aerospace materials and industry-specific machining techniques.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and blueprint reading.
- Experience with high-precision machining, including multi-axis CNC machines.
- Knowledge of best practices in CNC programming for aerospace, including surface machining, drilling, and turning.
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, and optimize CNC programs to ensure the highest level of quality and efficiency.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a focus on teamwork and quality.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP software and manufacturing systems is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with multi-axis CNC programming (4 and 5-axis).
- Knowledge of CAM software integration and optimization.
- Experience with Siemens NX or relevant CNC programming.
