What are the responsibilities and job description for the HSS-Quality-Bottling Supervisor position at Proximo Spirits?
Position Summary: The HSS-Quality-Bottling Supervisors primary responsibility is oversight of all Bottling Operations. Responsibilities also include oversight of all Safety initiatives throughout the distillery. This employee will lead and develop staff by coaching and directing to ensure that safety and quality are at the forefront for all employees.
- Primary Responsibilities for Quality:Conduct regular inspections to verify the adherence of quality standards.
- Train bottling operations employees on the quality defect and quality sampling plan.
- Verifies that quality sampling plan is executed.
- Create nonconformance reports.
- Lead Root Cause analysis due to quality deviations and complaints.
- Develops and audits Good Manufacturing Practices and follow up to close gaps.
- Ensures liquid quality, proof and fill heights are all in specification.
- Reports bottling daily defects and waste.
- Conduct and monitor the Commissioning Protocols for New Product Development.
- Create and maintain the quality system documentation.
- Ensure specifications are available, used by staff, and updated.
- Reports monthly Quality KPI’s for all bottling areas.
- Manage the instrument calibration program.
Primary Responsibilities for Safety:
- Ensure all activities are in accordance with promoting a safe and secure working environment.
- Supports safety initiatives in all operating areas of the distillery.
- Monitor that employees follow safety policies and guidelines.
- Identifies and reports on unsafe conditions and works with leadership team to get resolved.
- Conduct safety and proper lock out tag out audits.
- Creation and maintenance of Job Safety assessment.
- Manage to order the safety PPE for the distillery operations.
- Reports monthly safety KPI’s and all safety incidents for all operating areas.
- Conduct RCA due to safety incidents.
- Creates Distillery wide safety communications, supports Alchemy training materials development, and ensures safety training is completed by all staff.
- Monitor the behavior safety standards.
- Maintain the safety policies and ensures SOP’s are updated.
Primary Responsibilities for Bottling:
- Provides leadership, management, and direction to bottling operators and bottling support employees.
- Assesses bottling operations performance, people, and implements continuous improvement programs.
- Responsible for completing accurate documentation and timely reporting of bottling production results.
- Manages Temporary Employee Services to appropriately staff bottling operations on a daily basis.
- Responsible for the monthly physical inventory of all bottling materials and reconciliation is completed.
- Ensures that operators and maintenance technician properly maintain all bottling line equipment.
- Continually strives to enhance and improve bottling operations and material storage organization.
- Maintains cleanliness of all material storage, bottling tank, bottling line, and bottling shop areas.
- Reports process deviations, losses, and unplanned downtime to Operations Manager along with corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
- Supports capital projects and bottling improvement goals to progress business objectives.
- Works closely with Production Administrator to assist with reporting, inventory and logistical needs.
- Additional responsibilities as directed by Operations Manager.
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma, 4 year college degree is highly preferred.
- 1-3 years brewing / distilling / wine making / bottling or manufacturing based production experience.
- Experience at least 1-2 years in quality positions.
- Safety committee and protocol management experience highly preferred.
- Excellent leadership and mentoring qualities, leads by example and promotes a team environment.
- Strong process operations and mechanical ability with problem solving / troubleshooting skills.
- Solid organizational skills, ability to multi-task and successfully lead and direct a team of employees.
- Thorough knowledge in safety procedure, use of PPE, and safe chemical handling is required.
- Statistical analysis and software for statistical analysis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This position requires above average verbal and written communication skills as well as math skills. Candidate must have a sound knowledge of production operations, quality tools such Quality Acceptance limits, defect manual, inspection plan design and application, have solid organization skills and be detail oriented. Must be completely familiar with appropriate safety and emergency response procedures. Must have a strong mechanical background, be goal and objective oriented, and be able to cohesively lead a team. Must be able to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
Must have safety technical skills to perform basic risk analysis.
TYPICAL WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This position works entirely in a production environment. This is a day shift position but flexibility to work off-shifts and weekends is required. Noise, dust, variable temperature and use of production chemicals are also typical in this work environment.

Salary : $64,100 - $85,000
