As a Staff Accountant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Senior Accounting Manager and the finance team, ensuring efficient accounting operations and compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent attention to detail, and effective communication skills. You will be responsible for various accounting functions while also gaining a thorough understanding of other roles within the finance department. This cross-training will enable you to provide seamless support during team members’ absences, ensuring continuity in operations and contributing to the department's overall success.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations Support:
- Assist the Senior Accounting Manager in overseeing daily accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
- Manage vendor and client documentation, including ACH forms, W-9s, certificates of insurance, and other related documents.
- Log receipts and deposit checks, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and promptly.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Run and distribute weekly reports, including cash balances and timesheets, and other reports as needed
- Assist with compliance reporting and documentation, including tax returns, business license renewals, and various filings and registrations.
Project Accounting Support:
- Support the invoicing process by posting timesheets, managing transfers, running timesheet reports, and preparing necessary documentation.
- Follow up on collections and assist with project audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Team Collaboration and Process Improvement:
- Manage new hire setups and staff changes such as promotions, terminations, and rate changes.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Accounting Manager and finance team to support ongoing projects and financial audits.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.

Experience/Education
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a government or public sector environment.
- Proficient in accounting software (experience with Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint is a plus).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Skills Required
- Proficiency in Accounting Software: Strong knowledge of accounting software and tools, with the ability to efficiently manage and analyze financial data. Familiarity with Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint is a plus.
- Attention to Detail and Accuracy: Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all financial transactions, reporting, and reconciliations. Ability to identify discrepancies and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Effective Communication and Team Collaboration: Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments. Capable of conveying complex financial information in a clear and concise manner to support informed decision-making.
Compensation
The full salary range for this position is $ $70,000 - $85,000 per year. We aim to hire new employees between $70,000 and $75,000 (depending on experience) allowing for future compensation growth within the range based on aptitude in the role, context, progress, and performance against goals over time.
