VRE is the place to be! Virginia Railway Express (VRE) is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to support financial operations and ensure accuracy in accounting processes. A key role within our Finance & Accounting Department, the Accounting Assistant will assist and serve as backup for the Accounts Payable (A/P) and Revenue processes, accumulate support and post related journal entries (JEs) daily, assist with preparing schedules and reconciliations for the annual preliminary and final audits, and assist with periodic account reconciliations, schedules and internal & external information requests.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Associate Degree in Accounting
- Experience in performing the job duties and responsibilities directly related to those of the position to include JE posting, A/P & Revenue processing/posting/reconciliation, and preparing various schedules, reconciliations and information requests
- Experience with Microsoft Excel or experience with ERP systems including purchase order systems
