About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Director of Nursing to lead and oversee an inpatient medical-geriatric psychiatric unit located within a specialty hospital. This key leadership position is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment, and driving continuous improvement in nursing practice. The Director of Nursing will work closely with senior management to implement strategies that enhance patient outcomes, support the development of nursing staff, and maintain regulatory compliance.

  • Oversee the daily operations of the nursing department, ensuring that staffing levels are appropriate, and resources are utilized effectively.
  • Ensure that nursing services are delivered in accordance with established standards of care, best practices, and relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes, reduce readmissions, and enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including the Joint Commission, OSHA, and other accrediting bodies.
  • Develop, implement, and review nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the highest standards of care.
  • Monitor and audit clinical practices to ensure consistent adherence to internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide guidance and support to nursing staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement plans for professional growth and development of nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop long-term strategies for the nursing department, including patient care initiatives, staffing models, and departmental growth.
  • Manage the nursing department budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effective delivery of services.
  • Analyze department performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Communicate regularly with senior leadership to provide updates on nursing operations, patient care, and staffing needs.
  • Act as an advocate for nursing staff, ensuring their voices are heard in organizational decision-making processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting such as a hospital, long-term care facility, or behavioral health facility is preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing teams, developing staff, and overseeing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of healthcare professionals.
  • Deep knowledge of nursing practices, clinical protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with medical staff, patients, and families.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Proficient in healthcare management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing healthcare environments and regulatory standards.

Perks

Our goals are to find the best, attract the best, and offer a competitive salary—which is why we prioritize the quality of the hire over the number of hires. We offer zero-stress medical, dental, and vision coverage, competitive salaries, and a generous PTO policy. We are excited to tell you about a few "perks” we offer that are unique to Psychplus. We’ve spent time thinking through what it means to be a modern mental health company and how we can better align these additional perks with our mission and values.
