Senior Manager of Technical Accounting

The Senior Manager Technical Accounting position is responsible for the accounting for the Company’s more complex accounting subjects, including tax accounting, financing arrangements, purchase accounting, goodwill impairment evaluation. This individual is responsible for monitoring new accounting guidance released by the FASB and interpretations by the major accounting firms. This role will partner closely with the Controller to ensure that accounting needs of the department are met, appropriately documented within accounting memos. This role will work closely with the Assistant Controller to ensure that the Company achieves its financial reporting calendar. This role will utilize historical accounting experience to assist with the Company’s financial statement review and analyses.

Essential Functions:

• Serve as the Company’s technical accounting specialist. Stay current on new accounting pronouncements and lead the Company’s adoption efforts.
• Actively work with the M&A department Assist with acquisition due diligence and lead the Company’s accounting efforts under ASC 805 for future acquisitions. Ensure that contingent consideration on acquisitions is monitored and accounted for timely.
• Responsible for technical accounting analyses performed by the Company, including the Company’s annual goodwill impairment testing, adjustments to Responsible for the Company’s accounting for preferred unit equity award accounting. Ensure activity is accounted for within the financial statements within a timely manner. Serve as key contact for these matters with external accountants.
• Work with the Company’s third party tax provider to ensure timely and appropriate accounting for the Company’s tax provision, submission of tax returns, and K-1 reporting to our investors.
• Assist with the accounting treatment of non-routine transactions. Prepares/reviews journal entries for non-routine accounting transactions for assigned area of responsibility as required.
• Performs complex analysis and related interpretations of accounting records.
• Oversees and manages accounting personnel in preparation of accounting analyses and account reconciliations related to technical accounting areas of focus.
• Own with the preparation of the quarterly financial statements and bank package
• Own with the preparation of the annual financial statements and footnotes
• Identifies opportunities for streamlining or redesigning processes. Leads, supports and ensures successful execution of process improvement-oriented accounting projects.
• Assist with establishing Accounting policies and guidelines. Ensures execution of established accounting policies and guidelines across the accounting organization.
• Assist with conducting training, goal management, providing ongoing feedback and coaching.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Bachelors’ degree in Accounting
• CPA certification required.
• 6 years of experience either within national accounting firm in an audit or technical accounting research role or experience in industry in technical accounting role.
• Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
• Netsuite or other ERP experience preferred.
• Advanced experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
• Proven track record of improving accounting processes/tools/technology.
• Strong leadership and management abilities.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
