Job Summary:
Runs the ASMAG line with uninterrupted material flow design eliminating surface defects and reducing material waste attributed to material handling and multiple machines set ups. The line will continuously point, draw, straighten, ECT, UT cut end finish and bundle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Confirms that tubing presented to the pointer machine matches the work order requirements particularly job number and dimensions.
- Confirms squeeze pointer tooling to ensure proper setup allowing safety, quality, and hands-free operation.
- Confirms and adjusts point size to minimize scrap.
- Confirms mandrel rods meet draw and load requirements to ensure quality standards.
- Confirms shanks and mandrels meet work order requirements and are installed correctly.
- Uses correct mandrel guide feed cones per work order/set up instructions.
- Aligns pre-bench to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Selects and installs correct dies and spaces to meet customer and quality requirements.
- Selects and installs correct jaws and damping blocks to match points and finishes draw dimensions.
- Ensure tubes are straight to allow for uninterrupted operations leading to the Straightener.
- Follows all sample procedures to verify tubing dimensions and ID/OD surface finishes satisfy customer requirements.
- Confirms that the tubing presented to the straightener, ECT machine conforms to the work order requirement, particularly job number and dimensions.
- Set up and adjust straightener rolls, guide cones, pinch rolls, wiper, and table height to produce scratch, roller mark and stress mark free tubing that conforms dimensionally to the work order requirements.
- Verify finished tubing is straight and within size tolerances and satisfies work order requirements fir straightness and surface.
- Performs minor polishing of rolls if/when necessary.
- Set up and adjust pinch rolls, ECT and UT testing equipment by selecting the correct pressure, feed cones, center testing coil and UT testing standard. The operator must be able to manufacture an ECT testing standard that meets MMI requirements as set for in 4.09.P18.W05.
- Accurately enters product tag and inspection results into the SPC and data collection systems.
- Ensures that all non-conforming material is separated from prime material and placed in the proper location.
- Installs proper saw blades and sets proper saw blade parameters per work order instructions.
- Ensure saw blades always have proper lubricating fluid levels.
- Chooses and sets-up proper chamfer head and blow out cones per work order instructions.
- Inspects tubing to ensure they meet all customer requirements.
- Selects proper bundle size and banding instructions per work order instructions and enters available information in the automatic bundle equipment.
- Set up and confirm finished bundles are demagnetized per work instruction 4.10.P04.WO5.
- Must be able to keep machine running with very little to no interruptions.
- Must be able to trouble shoot set up issues to ensure uninterrupted machine run time and quality per work order instructions.
- Never operate a machine without SAFETY GUARDS in place.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Maintains a SAFE, CLEAN and ORGANIZED work area.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Good Mechanical Aptitude.
- Must be good with computers.
- Must be able to read and understand a tape measure, micrometer, and all other measuring. tools needed for customer requirements.
- Qualified hours on the Drawbench, Straightener/Mag Tester and Cut end Finishing machines.
- Ability to handle physical requirements.
