Job Summary: 

This position will be responsible for writing / maintaining the CNC code for the Beaver Falls II CNC machines as well as working with operations in maintaining a quality system to produce customer product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Trouble-shoot existing programs (G-Code) when operators are experiencing problems.
  • Write new programs for production when new parts are requested for supply by our customers.
  • Maintain plant calibration program by interfacing with outside calibration services, completing minor repair work, and maintaining the plant calibration database.
  • Maintain training records for hourly workforce.
  • Participate in reviews and updates of Quality Management System documents including PFMEA’s, control plans, process flow diagrams, and APQP documentation.
  • Conduct monthly layered process and product audits.
  • Disposition non-conforming material.
  • Assist with root cause and corrective action activities for internal and external claims and complaint resolution.
  • Write and revise work instructions, forms, and process documentation as necessary.
  • SPC charting and tracking of process data.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

General Expectations: 

  1. Production
    1. Trouble-shooting - work with operators when experiencing production problems (dimensional issues, selecting proper tool, equipment issues related to program,…)
    2. New Programs – work with production on how to optimally produce the new part.
  2.  QMS
    1. Calibration – manage outside contractor calibration schedule; manage gage calibration certificates; enter calibration information into GagePack database.
    2. Training – enter new employees into TwinLakes training database; enter and update employee training and competency requirements and records into TwinLakes; maintain hard copy files of completed and signed training records.
    3. Assist with updating PFMEA, control plans, process flow diagrams.
    4. Participate in root cause/corrective action activities for customer claims and complaints.
    5. Conduct monthly layered process audits.
    6. APQP – complete product launch checklists (quality portion); update product launch log.
  1. Work Instructions
    1. Update existing work instructions as needed.
    2. Write new work instructions as needed.
    3. Maintain correct work instruction revision level on InfoZone main index and SFI v2 operator interface.
  1. Misc.
    1. SPC charting of standards/process data.
    2. Monitor non-conformances and maintain Pareto chart.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
     
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Must be computer literate and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, established programs, etc. Must have the ability to write programs for new customer parts in G-Code. Fundamental understanding of machining equipment  (lathes, milling machines, boring machines,…) and mechanical drawings (surface finish, diameters, chamfers,…)would be necessary to properly write the programs.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. May enter manufacturing area of the plant where the noise level is very loud and hearing protection is required. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
