Summary
Radiology Support Associate must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill to provide care appropriate to the age of their patients; demonstrate knowledge of growth and development; access data reflective of the patients status; and identify each patient' requirements relative to age specific needs.
Responsibilities
Prepares patient, equipment and supplies procedure room before and after each indicated exam. Possesses and maintains understanding of the principles of growth and development as they pertain to patients in all age groups. Assesses data reflective of the patient's status, and interprets the information needed to identify the patient's requirement relative to age specific needs. Maintains a clean, safe, aesthetically pleasing work environment. Disposes of trash, sharps and lined in assigned manner at the conclusion of their shift. Uses the Hospital Information system and confirms all inpatients location via phone prior to arranging or transporting the patient to the radiology department. Transports patients to and from Radiology Department Holding Areas and other assigned areas. Assists patients to and from the Radiology Department while maintaining the patient privacy. Directs visitors and patients to appropriate areas. Adheres to the Standards of Excellence at all times. Respects the rights, privacy and property of others at all times including confidentially of information, according to the administrative policies and all applicable laws and regulations. Shall be CPR certified. Follows appropriate infection control policies and procedures, including Universal Precautions. Adheres to the departmental dress code. Assists co-workers as members of the health care team and perform other related work as required. Rotates within department, as required. Participates in required educational programs, including HIS, safety, infection control, AIDS awareness, age-related special needs and behaviors, etc. Participates in quality improvement activities to insure continuous improvement of services provided. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience
Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.
Education
High School diploma is required.
Skill
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications. Must meet and maintain current all unit specific and organizational skills / competencies, certifications / licensures, as required by the nursing area.
Credentials
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
Working Conditions
Physical Requirements - Job function requires extended standing or walking. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Jobs in this group require frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended use of computers. Environmental Conditions - Jobs in this group are required to function in a fast paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent and stressful situations.
