Description
The main function of this position is to digitally print toner based inks and coatings on a variety of different substrates, such as coated and uncoated papers, boards, and synthetics. This requires the set-up and complete operation of multi-color Xerox iGen 5 Digital Production Color presses.

- Responsible for the accurate reading and comprehension of written job specifications. Job specifications provide the production details of each job/finished product.
- Responsible for the safe and efficient make-ready (set up) and complete operation of multi-color digital printing presses.
- Responsible for the safe and efficient operator maintenance and cleanliness of multi-color digital printing presses.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate accounting and reporting of production time and materials, via shop-floor data collection terminals.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or the equivalent
- Knowledge of math and measurement
- High degree of mechanical skills
- High degree of diagnostic, performance, problem solving, skills and experience
- Physical abilities, including: the lifting of up to 70 pounds, extended walking/standing (up to 14 hours/day), bending, and squatting
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Adaptability and versatility (change) skills
- Willingness and the ability to work variable work schedules (sometimes with short notice) when and as required by the work load, which may include weekend and/or holiday hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate of Science in graphic arts/printing
- Two years of multi-color digital press operation
- Graphics arts college and/or trade school certification(s)
- Knowledge of general Publix and Printing Services’ policies and procedures
- Comprehensive digital printing knowledge with an overall understanding of database management/programming, pre-press and post-press processes
- Knowledge of chain-of-custody (CoC) processes and procedures
- Advanced digital printing knowledge
- Advanced mail processes and postal regulations
- Understanding of toner and toner lay down
- Understanding the Xerox Preventative Maintenance and replaceable parts and supplies
- Understanding the Xerox Front End and System Monitor Software
- Running Xerox quality control and color consistency programs
- Understanding the parts and function of the Tecnau roll-fed transfer system
- Understanding quality control methodologies, processes, tools, and measurements
- Understanding the characteristics of various printing substrates
- Understanding the parts and function of weekly ad sign, compare & save sign, and shelf tag Microsoft Access databases
- Specific and advanced multi-color digital printer set-up, operation, and maintenance knowledge
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Knowledge of Shop Floor Data Collection
- Knowledge of Publix and Printing Services job and code numbering systems
- Ability to simultaneously operate up to four digital printing presses
- Ability to use various specialized tools

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
