The purpose of this position is to lead, manage, and optimize the performance of the on-site industrial refrigeration teams and equipment in the Manufacturing plant operations and/or Distribution Centers. This includes implementation of standardized best refrigeration practices, development of associates, management of the refrigeration operational budgets, ensuring performance measures are used to improve the business, regulatory compliance, and reporting performance results to upper-level management.

Responsibilities include:
- Identifying and implementing refrigeration best practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, to ensure optimal utilization of assets
- Acting as the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) on department capital projects as well as QDPs (Quality Decision Process) and facilitating improvement projects
- Managing department staff and associates
- Monitoring and achieving goals related to performance measures and KPIs used to improve the business
- Providing input for the annual budget processes for Manufacturing, Distribution, and office facilities
- Supporting refrigeration planned activities and responding to unplanned situations in the facility
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or its equivalent and at least one of the following: vocational/trade school training courses, military maintenance and/or apprenticeship program with emphasis on electrical, automation, and processing
- Three years of experience working in or with a distribution and/or manufacturing refrigeration related business
- Ability to obtain Refrigeration Engineers and Technicians Association (RETA) Certification within 12 months of hire
- Knowledge of the Microsoft office suite – Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of power and electrical systems and controls, gas, water and wastewater, Refrigeration Utilities and systems, and Industrial Construction
- Knowledge of state and local laws pertaining to construction, maintenance, refrigeration, and safety (OSHA)
- Knowledge of maintenance practices and the disciplines of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles and theories and operations for all the equipment and systems
- Strong knowledge of computer electronics, ladder logic, and electrical control systems, including programmable logic control systems (This also includes knowledge of electrical power distribution systems and high voltage equipment.)
- Knowledge of refrigeration equipment for optimal utilization of assets
- Knowledge of manufacturing and distribution industries
- Must have a willingness to work a variable schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends to meet business needs. Requires the ability to be on call 24 hours/7 days per week and the ability to travel with overnight stays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Business discipline
- Five years of distribution and/or manufacturing refrigeration management experience
- Member of any of the following: Institute of Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR), National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), and/or American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Member.
- Certification in any of the following: Certified Plant Maintenance Manager (CPMM), Certified General Contractors license, Certified in Pasteurized Milk Ordinance, Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) Incident Commander Training

Year End Bonus
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
