Description
As a Publix Refrigeration Technician, you will have the opportunity to provide premier customer service to our retail stores through daily service and maintenance of our refrigerated case hardware and equipment. You can make a difference in the quality and reliability of our refrigeration systems by applying your expert knowledge of the trade while serving as a full time Publix associate.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Performs daily maintenance and repairs of our refrigerated case doors and hardware and walk-in doors and hardware throughout our retail stores
- Cleans and maintains ice machines
- Reviews and reports on workmanship of our refrigeration service suppliers
- Visits stores and provides feedback on the operational quality of our refrigerated cases and equipment
- Responds to emergencies after normal working hours and weekends when needed
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- At least one (1) of experience working in skilled trades service or construction disciplines or
- At least three (3) years of Publix Retail or Operations experience
- Basic time management skills
- Basic computer skills
- Basic knowledge in Food Safety
- Ability to analyze information and data
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in a written format
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to manage a group of people
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule; including nights, weekends, and to travel with overnight stays
- Ability to lift/lower/climb ladders/walk on roofs
- Must by 21 years of age
- Must be able to have and maintain and excellent driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret schematics involving integrated systems of electrical, EMS, mechanical, refrigeration and plumbing
- Expert knowledge of refrigerant management usage; EPA Clean Air Act, understanding of various refrigerants and usage, etc.
- Intermediate knowledge of computerized maintenance field service management systems
- Intermediate knowledge of EMS and Case Controller Programming languages

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
