If yes, then this internship at Publix may be the perfect fit for you. The Student Data Analyst program is a semiannual program based in our Lakeland corporate headquarters. Our goal is to provide the Student Data Analyst as much exposure to the day-to-day work of a full-time Data Analyst as possible, so the student works directly with the Publix Supply Chain Data Analytics team to assist with Supply Chain Forecasting, Pharmacy, Inventory Shrinkage, Risk Management, and Activity Based Costing projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Working with Data Analysts and Data Scientists to research and apply statistical modeling algorithms that can be utilized to improve the accuracy of forecasts for retail items
- Finding an algorithm to better identify outliers in the reporting which will help drive store improvements in shrink
- Giving support for planning/goal setting functions of the department
Required Qualifications
- Coordinate your own housing within a commutable distance of the work location
- Rising Senior or Graduate Student majoring in Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Information Systems (various), Industrial Engineering
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and Internet/E-mail
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Access
- Basic knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, R, Python, C /C , and SQL
- Must have an interest in data analysis
- Must have some knowledge of statistics
- Must have some knowledge of at least one computer programming language

- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SQL
- Working knowledge of R, Python or another statistical package

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
