Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley.

The Team Member we are searching for
The ideal Assistant Principal of Academics believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success. This individual exhibit this through supporting the principal in motivating, leading, and mentoring teachers with instructional practice, individual and school-wide professional development, student support, and organizational practices.
What you will need to accomplish :
Academic
- Be an instructional leader who will motivate, lead and mentor teachers to better instructional practice and increase content expertise by meeting the goals of the school-wide improvement plan
Individual Teacher Professional and Instructional Support
Review instructional documents and provide feedback to teachersObserve classroom performance and give constructive feedbackDesign and review progress toward Professional Growth Plan goals with teachersUse appropriate data, in collaboration with others, to establish rigorous, concrete goals in the context of student achievement and instructional programsSchool-wide Professional and Instructional Support
Use research and / or best practices to drive decision-making about the academic programProvide instructional resources to teachersDesign and deliver Professional Development on an ongoing basis that is based on school improvement planFacilitate weekly PD / Staff Meetings in alignment with school improvement plan and missionIndividual Student Support
Design and evaluate student intervention plans (academic & behavioral) (individual student, small group, school-wide)Attend IEP meetings, coordinate instructional actions by Resource Specialists, and insure completion of IEP goalsFacilitate FST meetings in the absence of the PrincipalDesign process for measuring and monitoring individual student growth (i.e., student portfolio)School-Wide Program
Ensure academic program meets compliance regulations around credit and course requirementDesign an academic program that supports and promotes early college missionDesign a school improvement planOrganizational Practices
Be an organizational leader who will motivate, lead, and mentor those within the school community and who will collaborate with the home office to ensure effective fiscal and operational practices in support of the achievement of the school-wide improvement planCalendar
Develop and implement an ongoing process for assessing students' needs (including delivery of internal and external benchmarks)Create school calendar, bell schedule, and courses that meet PUC Schools requirementsStakeholder Events
Create and facilitate the School Site Advisory CouncilOwn responsibility for the design and facilitation of annual parent events (i.e., lottery, new student orientation, student-led conferences, etc.)Personal Professional Growth
Attend weekly principals' meetings including participation in Principals Course of Study (PCOS)Human Resources
Work with Human Resources to manage all employee issuesCoordinate with Human Resources to recruit highly qualified teachersDeliver evaluation, feedback, and support to the PrincipalDeliver evaluation, feedback, and support for certificated staff in meeting common expectations (bi-annually)Finance
Accountability for maintaining schools' budgets, allocating funds where they will be most effectively in alignment with approved budget guidelinesSupport the Principal in the development and execution of the Fundraising PlanOperations
Responsible for the achievement of student enrollment targetsResponsible for the design and implementation of a plan for obtaining reimbursement payments for supplemental instruction (i.e., summer school, intervention, extended school day)School Culture

Minimum Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in related field requiredMaster's degree and administrative credential preferredExperience :
5 years of teaching experience at the middle or high school level, with a history of improving urban schools, increasing student achievement, and a passion for education reformPrevious leadership experience (department chair, Assistant Principal, Dean, etc.)Skills and Abilities
Proficient with Microsoft Suite : Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookProven leadership and team-building skillsDetail-oriented, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skillsExcellent interpersonal communicationExcellent communication skills (verbal and written)Alignment with core characteristics required of every PUC employee : pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, and authenticityMust be flexible and team-orientedAble to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentBilingual in Spanish highly preferredStrong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of workRegular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this positionThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
