Fort Carson Floor Technician - Experience Required
SERVICE PHILOSOPHY

SUMMARY
The Fort Carson Floor Technician (“Floor Technician”) supports work performed under the authority of the Fort Carson custodial contract (“contract”) by providing custodial work as directed, with an emphasis on all types of floor care. The Floor Technician may also be directed to provide transportation to co-workers between work locations on the Fort Carson facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversight (as assigned)
oLead assigned coworkers in performing required duties
oProvide on-site instruction in cleaning techniques and floor care techniques
oReview and follow all Safety Data Sheets (“SDS”) and communicate warnings and hazards as necessary
- Lead Driver (as assigned)
oDrive PDI vehicles as required to transport co-workers, materials, supplies and equipment to various work sites
oClosely follow all PDI and customer-specific driving rules, policies and regulations
- Safety
oFollow procedures and direct others in the safe use of chemical cleaners and power equipment
oFollow safety procedures to check electrical appliances and equipment prior to use
oNotify supervisor with recommendations about equipment repair and replacement
oEnsure that all safety rules and policies are consistently followed
- Floor Care
oPerform primary and maintenance level floor care in assigned buildings as instructed by the Fort Carson ProjectManager and Fort Carson Assistant Project Manager
oMix and prepare cleaning solutions according to manufacturer specifications and PDI safety guidelines
oMove and reset furniture as required
oSweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, strip, wax, top scrub, re-coat mop and spray buff hard surface floors
oShampoo carpeted floors
- Custodial
oMix and prepare cleaning solutions according to manufacturer specifications and PDI safety guidelines
oDusts furniture and equipment
oPolishes metalwork
oWashes walls, ceiling and woodwork
oWashes windows, door panels and sills
oEmpties wastebaskets
oTransports trash and waste to disposal area
oReplenishes bathroom supplies
oTransports small equipment or tools between departments
Requirements:SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Floor Technician has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide direction to co-workers, including individuals served as directed by his or her supervisor.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school degree or its equivalent required. One year custodial experience required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
One year experience in a supervisory or lead position preferred.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Age 21. A valid driver’s license, pre-employment background screen, pre-employment drug screen and authorized driver approval by PDI’s automobile insurance carrier may be required as directed by supervisor. Successful completion of First Aid and other required certifications.
Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with individuals served, staff and support agencies. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the PDI environment. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
MATHEMATICS ABILITY
Ability to calculate figures and amounts circumference and volume.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, a person should have knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel and Outlook, Internet software, cellular telephones and basic office equipment.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Floor Technician will work at PDI’s customer facility at Fort Carson, Colorado. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable persons with disabilities to perform essential functions.
While performing the duties of this job, the Floor Technician is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather). The Floor Technician is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can become loud and hectic.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is an non-exempt exempt, full-time position. Hours worked Monday through Friday may vary based on work requirements. Routine evening, weekend and holiday hours may be required to meet contract specifications and PDI needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and taste or smell.
TRAVEL
Frequent short-trip travel as required to perform custodial work on the Fort Carson facility.
