Utilities Operations Program Manager

Job Description

Under the direction of the Director and the Superintendent, manages the arc/GIS program, Cross Connection program, Safety program, Warehouse Inventory, Badger Meter Eye on Water program and performs various projects relating to the utility operations for potable water, R-1 water and wastewater.

Compensation

$50,000 to $60,000/year (Exempt)

Reports to: Director of Utilities, Utilities Superintendent

Responsibilities

Essential Duties

• Assist the department as assigned by the Director and Utilities Superintendent in general administrative, operational, and financial analysis.
• Collect pertinent information through research, surveys, and other resources and perform analysis information using spreadsheet calculations and other software programs.
• Inspect Lanai Water Company, and Utilities Department properties to ensure compliance with State and Federal rules and regulations.
• Submit monthly / weekly reports and maintain various records.
• Conduct weekly safety discussion with staff.
• Update arc/GIS program weekly.
• Manage cross connection program to ensure compliance by Lanai Water Company customers with annual inspections and device repairs as required by State of Hawaii code.
• Manage warehouse material and equipment inventory.
• Daily management of Badger Eye on Water program, to include meter re-reads, leak checks, meet with delinquent accounts and program meters for replacement.
• Conduct studies and perform special projects as assigned by the Director.
• Respond to emergencies as necessary 24/7 utilizing SCADA system and assist as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualification/Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• Requires 4 years of working experience in water or wastewater industry.
• Requires excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.
• Requires working to the established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.
• Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.
• Ability to create effective working relationships with people.
• Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.
  
  

Required Work Cards/Certifications

• Distribution System Operator license of Grade 2 within 30 months of job acceptance.
• Cross Connection certified tester license within 30 months of job acceptance.
• Valid Hawaii Driver’s License and successful review of Motor Vehicle Record.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk; hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
