POSITION TITLE: EDUCATIONAL EXAMINER
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Arkansas Teaching Certificate in Educational Examiner Certification
- Master’s Degree in Education
- Experience required
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
JOB GOAL: Complete child-find requirements to ensure that eligible students with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education (FAPE)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assess students using appropriate assessment and diagnostic practices within the scope of practice identified in the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Office of Special Education IDEA Rules and Regulations.
2. Administer assessments for all suspected disabilities within the test administration guidelines, and write and sign reports in preparation to interpret results at IEP team members.
3. Assists with due process conferences and associated paperwork for students with disabilities under the IDEA.
4. Collaborate and communicate with the Teacher of Record, Special Education Coordinator, and Director of Special Education to ensure assessments are administered to students, including but not limited to the school setting, residential, homebound, and day treatment settings.
5. Facilitate existing data review meetings with IEP team members.
6. Work collaboratively with parents to obtain the necessary data and consent to complete evaluations.
7. Demonstrate effective communication skills.
8. Demonstrate effective technology skills.
9. Maintain accurate record keeping.
10. Meet special education department deadlines.
11. Work collaboratively with district and school leadership and evaluation team members to ensure compliance with all state and federal timeline requirements.
12. Participate in department peer review and file review activities.
13. Assist schools with completing Functional Behavior Assessments, Individual Crisis Plan development, and Behavior Intervention Plan development.
14. Review and adhere to state and federal guidelines for eligibility determinations.
15. Assists with district and statewide assessment administration upon request and schedule availability.
16. Adhere to all department guidelines and procedures.
17. Is knowledgeable about the district’s School Board policies, district Unitary Status Plan, and district/ department/school guidelines/regulations and adheres to the same.
18. Performs other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary Range: Teacher Salary Schedule. Placement depends upon education and experience.
Length of Contract: 190 days per contract year
