Position Summary: Program Coordinator
- The Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Council Administrator in administering Senior Chore Service. He/she may also assist the Administrator with additional projects as time allows. Duties include managing volunteers for Senior Chore Service; event planning and supervision; recordkeeping and data management; production of statistical reports. Senior Chore Service uses one-on-one volunteers who assist one senior more than once, and chore crew volunteers from student and community groups who serve a number of seniors on one date. SCS volunteers receive direct oversight by the Program Coordinator.
Compensation
- $17.85/hour (pay rate negotiable and depends on experience)
- 10-15 hours per week, with a maximum of 40 hours per month
- Paychecks issued at the beginning of each month. No additional benefits are offered.
General Responsibilities
- Primary Duties include broad spectrum of managing program volunteers for both Senior Chore Service. This includes, but is not limited to: Recruit, train, and supervise community volunteers from local service clubs, churches, schools, Washington State University, and other community sources. Process volunteer registrations, process and maintain records of background checks. When working with groups of volunteers, i.e. SCS Chore Crews, provide planning, communication, and preparations for service time, as well as follow-up afterwards.
- Maintain risk management procedures, including screening volunteers, home/site visits, and project safety measures.
- Assess each program’s effectiveness and document outcomes by maintaining accurate and complete client, volunteer, and service records.
- Maintain program forms and publications.
- Be "on-call" for Meals on Wheels 11am-1pm 2 or 3 days a week.
- Attend monthly Pullman Community Council on Aging meetings to provide program report.
Qualifications
- Two or more years of administrative experience in a professional setting.
- Competent understanding of needs and characteristics of the at-home senior population.
- Strong initiative and follow-through, including ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work with various personalities while maintaining tact and professionalism.
- Ability to collaborate with staff, Board, community partners, as well as staff of various businesses and community organizations.
- Solid organizational abilities, including planning, program administration and development, task facilitation.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
- Acceptable completion of criminal background check.
