Job Overview
Seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduler for our multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) located in Tomball, Texas. This position requires excellent customer service and patient liaison skills to respond to scheduling changes/cancellations in a timely and accurate manner.
Duties
- Serves as a primary liaison between the Surgery Center, physicians, and other facilities.
- Answer and route calls, relaying all pertinent information to appropriate staff members.
- Provide requested and/or required information to patients, physicians, staff, and outside facilities, in a professional and timely manner.
- Verify the patient's insurance and obtain prior authorization to schedule surgical procedures, ensuring it meets physician and facility requirements.
- Enter all required information into appropriate databases; coordinate and schedule surgeries, following appointment procedures set by management.
- Provide accurate information to patients in preparation for surgery: patient intake forms, time of scheduled arrival and other required information; notify appropriate staff of the patient’s arrival on the day of surgery.
- Maintain credentialing files by processing applications for initial and/or reappointments, ensuring proper review and validity of all required documents.
- Assist in compiling, auditing, and scanning medical charts, according to established policies and procedures set by the facility.
- Follow proper opening and closing procedures, including tidiness of public areas and cash handling procedures and all policies set by management.
- Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment at all times.
- Promote effective working relations to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
- Attend all required safety training programs, ensuring competency for general safety, department/ service safety, specific job-related hazards pertaining to role.
- Reports safety concerns promptly to appropriate personnel.

Experience & Education
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a medical office required; experience in surgery scheduling, highly preferred.
- High school graduate or equivalent, required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
Qualifications
- Professional appearance, with a pleasant and articulate phone voice, required.
- Ability to multitask and handle many incoming calls or patients at once, required.
- High attention to detail, with efficient and accurate data-entry skills, required.
- Computer literacy and multi-line phone, required.
- Basic knowledge of math, alphabetical and numerical filing, required
