Job Summary:
The Medical Front Office Representative plays a critical role in providing excellent customer service and managing day-to-day office operations in a healthcare setting. The primary responsibility of this position is to verify patient insurance coverage, ensure accurate patient data entry, and provide administrative support to the medical team. The ideal candidate will have experience in front-office duties, including handling insurance verifications, scheduling appointments, and managing patient inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Insurance Verification:
- Verify patient insurance information, eligibility, and benefits prior to appointments or procedures.
- Contact insurance companies for clarification of coverage, pre-authorizations, or benefit details.
- Update patient records with accurate insurance data in the practice management system.
- Inform patients about their insurance coverage and co-payment responsibilities.
- Patient Interaction & Scheduling:
- Greet and check-in patients upon arrival to the office.
- Schedule patient appointments, including follow-up visits and referrals.
- Answer phone calls and assist patients with inquiries regarding insurance, appointments, and other office services.
- Collect and verify patient information and forms before appointments.
- Administrative Support:
- Manage patient intake and registration, ensuring accurate data entry into the system.
- Maintain patient files and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with office tasks such as filing, faxing, and managing office supplies.
- Other Duties:
- Assist medical staff with patient flow and administrative tasks as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or relevant certifications preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a medical office setting, with a focus on insurance verification.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, and healthcare billing practices.
- Proficiency in medical office software and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle confidential information with professionalism.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
Work Environment:
- This position is based in a medical office or clinic setting.
- Occasional overtime or evening hours may be required.
