The Opportunity: The Director, Supplier Platform (Internal) Marketplace (External) is a newly created role that will be fully responsible for building out strategic initiatives and business operations across the Digital Supplier Platform business channel, ensuring the platform thrives as key revenue driver. In this role you will lead our strategic planning processes, drive competitive insights and trend analysis, and evaluate expansion opportunities, recommendations, and Go to Market strategies. You will partner with e-commerce, merchandising, supply chain and product teams on channel-specific initiatives focused on accelerating the growth of the Digital Supplier Platform and delivering best-in-class customer and seller experiences. This role involves high-level strategic thinking and executive communication, strong technical analytics skills, and a process-oriented mindset to drive outcomes. The role's initial focus will be launching and delivering the initial Digital Platform timeline and Launch/Scale Implementation
What You Will Do:
- Develop and drive Supplier Platform strategic initiatives: Identify and implement seller recruiting, onboarding and growth initiatives in conjunction with relevant Merchandising and Operations teams. Manage specific features, functionalities, and tooling enhancements through the development of business cases, product requirements, GTM plans and overall project management
- Deliver data-driven insights: Develop insightful market and business intelligence including industry trends, competitive threats, category/assortment opportunities, etc. and present recommendations for VP cross-functional audiences to gain buy in
- Lead strategic planning and business operations: Lead reporting processes to monitor progress against goals and surface actionable insights. Drive long-term planning cycles, guiding tops-down alignment for OKRs, goals, and bottoms-up assumptions supporting future growth
Implement new processes and ways of working: Build effective ways of working across teams and drive collaboration and coordination across functions. Identify opportunity areas that create efficiency, remove obstacles and improve business processes - Build cross-functional advocacy: Build strong and trusting relationships with team members and business partners, works collaboratively and cross-functionally to achieve objectives and communicates with energy and positivity to motivate, influence and inspire commitment and action
- Vendor Relationship Management: Oversee the full lifecycle of vendor relationships, from acquisition to growth and retention. Foster healthy, productive partnerships that support vendor success while driving marketplace goals
Leadership and Team Development: Lead, mentor, and assess a team of Marketplace/Supplier Platform Managers, empowering them to achieve and exceed performance metrics. Establish clear KPIs and success benchmarks for the team and individual contributors
The Experience You Will Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field or 10 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- 10 years of successful eCommerce, marketplace, strategy, business operations or project management experience
- 5 years of demonstrated experience managing cross-functional projects or initiatives to drive business positive outcomes
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Knowledge of e-commerce platforms and marketplaces, including seller onboarding, product listing, and order management
- Expertise in seller acquisition and growth, target brand/seller identification, seller funnel performance management, seller education, analytics, and key account management
- Strong analytical skills with deep experience across planning and forecasting, business performance analyses, market sizing and business case development
- Assertive, adaptable and demonstrates initiative in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
