Job Summary

The internship provides the opportunity to gain first-hand Project Engineering experience at a pharmaceutical manufacturing organization as well as exposure to utilities required to support the facility. The Intern works closely with Engineering and Maintenance teams to support the development and execution of activities and projects as assigned while adhering to relevant regulatory guidelines, company procedure, company Code of Ethics, and acting in alignment with our Values: Collaboration, Integrity, Courage and Innovation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop knowledge of roles and functions within the Engineering, Maintenance and other cross-function teams.
  • Provide technical information and support on engineering projects related to the operation and maintenance of manufacturing, packaging, and building systems equipment. Gain an understanding of the basic principles and the kind of equipment used in the Wilson facility.
  • Develop equipment specifications for procurement, obtain installation quotations, assist in start-up and qualification of new equipment and the training of production technicians and maintenance mechanics related to equipment processes.
  • Work closely with project engineers during start-up to assure adequate documentation and training are provided by vendors which includes developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials related to the operation and maintenance of production and building system equipment.
  • Maintain compliance of SOPs relating to the Code of Federal Regulations (cGMP), OSHA, EPA, NFPA, as well as other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Provide operational support of departments and ad hoc activities.

Education And Experience Requirements

Current enrollment in undergraduate or graduate-level program in Engineering or related technical field. One year of college coursework preferred (Sophomore-Senior).

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • A practical and proactive problem-solver
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable to a dynamic environment and the ability to work independently.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with cross functional team members and external partners
  • Goal-oriented, project-oriented, and achievement-oriented.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities for multiple stakeholders.
  • Desire to learn from others and build relationships across the organization.
  • Prior experience in project management or manufacturing a plus.

Additional Information

Must be able to work up to 4 days per week (preferably during core office hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday - Thursday) for the equivalent of the summer semester. This role is expected to work onsite with the potential work-flex to change or modification at any time at the discretion of management as business needs may dictate. The internship is based in North Carolina, you must reside within a commutable distance to the facility.
