What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodial Supervisor (Night) - Building Services position at Purdue University?
As a Custodial Supervisor, you will:
- Supervise the shift custodial operations of 25-40 custodians assigned to up to 20 buildings in the Building Services Department.
- Plan, coordinate and schedule custodial activities including the requisition of general custodial supplies, inventory for assigned buildings, and approve and monitor work hours, overtime and flextime.
- Travel among buildings and inspect individual areas for compliance with customer service and department standards, safety procedures, etc.
- Consult with General Manager on status of daily shift activities and advise of problems and/or needs.
- Foster teamwork and staff professional development.
- This position is considered "Essential Personnel" for campus emergencies and is subject to 24-hour callback for emergencies.
Days/Hours: Monday-Thursday, Sunday 10:30pm to 7:00am

What We Are Looking For:
Education, Experience and Skills
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in supervision or related field
- 1 year of supervisory experience
- Consideration will be given for an equivalent combination of required education and relevant work experience as follows:
- Associate’s degree and 3 years of supervisory experience
- High school diploma/GED and 5 years of supervisory experience
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources
- Must have proven leadership and customer service skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills when dealing with customers, employees and peers necessary
- Conflict resolution skills needed
- Strong computer skills required including knowledge of Outlook, word processing and spreadsheets
- Strong organizational skills necessary
- Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematics
- Must have completed Building Services Custodial Development Program or be enrolled in program within 90 days of hire
- Valid driver's license
Preferred:
- Custodial experience
- Working knowledge of custodial techniques
- Knowledge of campus buildings and locations
