Create and implement course content for the First-Year Engineering (FYE) courses (ENGR 13100, 13200), including both the in-class and out-of-class experience, in collaboration with faculty and other staff. Includes management of centralized FYE course activities such as: creating a course calendar; training instructional team on course content and grading rubrics; advising instructional team including situations involving students; as well as maintaining websites and other technical interfaces. Assist with the overall operation of the classroom/lab spaces.

The First-Year Engineering (FYE) is the program in which all engineering students begin their academic career at Purdue. The Instructional Support Team (IST) works behind the scenes to support our instructional teams, course staff, and students by managing and developing courses that ensure a seamless transition into the next step of their undergraduate education. Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or other STEM related field
- Two (2) years of related experience
- Professional background in creative problem solving as well as experience in either business or academic settings developing technical learning opportunities and creating training materials.
- Proficiency in programming languages, with a preference for expertise in MATLAB and Python.
- Expert in Microsoft tools, Excel especially, in an engineering environment.
- Demonstrate openness to learning and a teachable demeanor, with a readiness to adapt to new tools and methodologies.
- Possess the ability to critically analyze operations and provide constructive feedback.
- Must excel in problem-solving, thrive under pressure, meet deadlines, and exhibit creativity in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team, with the flexibility to manage frequent interruptions.
- Display excellent time management and organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, public speaking, and organizational abilities are essential, along with a positive attitude, patience, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Preferred:
- Arduino/microcontroller experience, including coding, debugging, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with interpreting academic materials for use in the classroom and assessing student performance through grading.
- Working knowledge of software/LMS used for course management (e.g., Brightspace, Gradescope, Canvas).
- Understanding of the engineering design cycle/process.
- Experience mentoring and/or supervising graduate and undergraduate students.
