The Research Account Administrator plays a pivotal role in supporting faculty researchers within the Office of Research by managing a designated group of research portfolios and leading a team of business assistants. This position is instrumental in guiding research projects through every stage, from proposal submission to post-award administration, ensuring a seamless and efficient process. As a key partner to faculty, the administrator fosters communication among investigator teams, oversees project reporting and coordination, and prepares grant projections to maintain financial clarity. Additionally, this role involves close collaboration with Principal Investigators (PIs) to address challenges, as well as interfacing with sponsors, subcontractors, and various Purdue offices, including business and sponsored program units, to navigate budget revisions and other financial matters. Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- BA/BS, preferably in Business Administration, Management, Finance or related field
- 2 years account management, financial management or related experience
Skills needed:
- Ability to identify problems, analyze information, and implement solutions
- Capable of taking initiative, assuming responsibility, maintaining quality standards, and handling confidential information with discretion
- Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
- Must be extremely flexible and adaptable to constantly varying work environments and with limited daily supervision
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and implement policies and procedures
- Proficient with personal computer and related software (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, database, internet, etc.)
- Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Must have analytical ability to work under pressure and time constraints to meet deadlines
- Must be able to prioritize work, be organized, and be able to multi-task
What is helpful:
- 2 year of experience in portfolio management
- Ability to functionally supervise others. Knowledge of and skills in using SAP and Success Factors
