Job Description

JOB TITLE : Operations and Cost Accountant (based in US)

REPORTS TO : Financial Controller

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Plan and collect data to determine the cost of product activities (raw mat’s, inventory and labor)
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen controls
Prepare and publish tasks in-time to produce accurate monthly financial statements (
Analyze changes in cost re : product design, raw materials and / or manufacturing methods
Business Partner with key areas of the business to provide financial operations support
Analyze actual manufacturing costs vs standard costs
PIP (Profit Improvement Plans) – measure actual performance vs target and then work with the management teams to prepare an action plan to address any under-performance
Assist when making estimates of new and proposed product costs
Provide management with reports comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products
Ensure accuracy, usefulness and understanding of all factory and product KPI’s – this will include working closely with factory management to help them understand / improve performance
Capital expenditure – review of CAPEX applications, validation of costs and benefits, manage subsequent spend, post implementation review
Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems
Assist the Financial Controller in presenting reports to all stakeholders
Monitor project expenditures, with a focus on cash milestones.
Manage and co-ordinate the Finance and IT risk register
Support the Financial Controllers in preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
Additional duties as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS :

10 years in a finance environment

Excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles

Computer Literate – Excel, ability to use Outlook, Word and Powerpoint

Other skills required :

Good working knowledge of US GAAP.

Manufacturing experience.

Solid written and verbal communication skills

Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
