Position Summary
The Operations Manager is directly responsible for managing, directing, and implementing day to day activities associated with operations to achieve Business Unit (BU) EBITDA goals. Short-term responsibilities include production schedule, equipment management, field training, crew safety, field hiring, discipline policy enforcement, installation quality/procedures/method, and minimizing operational profit and loss (P&L) risk on current projects. Long-term goals include the implementation of operations strategies that support achieving EBITDA goals as directed by the leadership team.

Long-term goals include the implementation of operations strategies that support achieving EBITDA goals as directed by the leadership team.
Essential Job Accountabilities
- Manages operations concurrent with business growth, introduction of new operational systems, and meeting BU EBITDA objectives. Ensures product installations conform to customer’s requirements and specifications. Manages resource utilization for BU projects. Meets BU goals in relation to safety, quality, and on-time delivery of trenchless products and services.
- Assesses and assists in upgrading the talent base within operations to achieve growth and meet BU needs (i.e. reduced cost, shorter down time and on-time delivery.)
- Conceives, researches, plans, targets, and controls reductions in cost and product installation time on existing and new contracts.
- Manages and assists in coordinating effort between support departments within the organization (Maintenance, Safety, Project Management).
- Participates in the implementation of advanced technology and systems to improve EBITDA and improve crew and project through-put.
- Maintains consistent written and verbal communication with all key project participants.
- Contributes to the overall long-range planning process. Establishment and assessment of the BU’s annual operating budget as agreed to by the GM and CFO/CEO. Achievement of monthly, quarterly, and yearly EBITDA goals as set forth in the budget, covering current and future forecasts and delinquencies.
- Projects a positive image to peers and subordinates, to the customers we serve, to the industry in which we participate, and to the community in which we live by producing a cost-efficient, quality product in a productive environment.
- Participates, plans, and prepares the Production Schedule as related to operations .
- Establishes, prepares, implements, revises, and maintains policies and procedures related to operations as agreed to by leadership.
- Administers and manages the division's safety and quality to provide an adequate and safe working environment.
- Initiates CAPEX requests as needed to maintain and grow the BU Fleet Equipment.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, advanced degree – specifically in an engineering or construction related field a plus.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in ANY aspect of the trenchless industry to include finance, project management, operations, or sales.
- Firm understanding of the financial impacts of operations on the overall profit and loss (P&L) of a given project or operation
- Must interact, communicate, and execute with proficiency
- Plans, manages, implements systems to drive desired results
- Able to resolve unforeseen circumstances quickly
