Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Substitute Teacher to join our Daycare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring that students continue to engage with the curriculum in the absence of their regular teacher. This role requires effective classroom management skills, a passion for education, and the ability to implement lesson plans that support student learning.
Responsibilities
Child Supervision
- Monitor and ensure the safety of children in the classroom and on the playground.
- Maintain a positive, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children of all ages.
Classroom Management
- Follow the daily schedule and planned activities, as outlined by the lead teacher or director.
- Manage behavior effectively using positive reinforcement and appropriate redirection techniques.
Activity Facilitation
- Lead or assist in activities such as circle time, arts and crafts, storytime, and other age-appropriate learning experiences.
- Encourage social interaction, creativity, and developmental growth.
Meal and Snack Assistance
- Assist with preparation, serving, and cleanup during meal and snack times.
- Ensure children follow proper hygiene practices, including handwashing before meals.
Personal Care
- Help with diaper changes, toilet training, and other personal care tasks as needed.
- Support children in learning self-care skills, such as dressing and tidying up.
Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate professionally and effectively with other staff members and parents as necessary.
- Report any incidents, injuries, or concerns to the lead teacher or director promptly.
Health and Safety Compliance
- Follow all health, safety, and licensing regulations and protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the classroom and other daycare areas.
Adaptability
- Step into various roles as needed, adapting quickly to different age groups and activities.
- Provide support during transitions, such as drop-off, pick-up, or naptime.
