Job Summary:
The Operations Manager is charged with:
- Ensuring all activities are performed in a manner that protects and promotes the health, safety, security and welfare of fellow workers, the community, and the environment.
- Day-to-day leadership over warehousing, packaging, distribution, bleach manufacturing, and office support functions for the region.
- Coordinating production activities and product distribution among the facilities for which they are responsible.
- Reviewing and analyzing production, expenditure, financial and operations reports to determine requirements for increasing profits, such as the need for additional personnel, expansion of work schedules or extension of delivery routes.
- As a member of the National Operations Leadership Team, the Operations Manager ensures their district is operating in compliance with policies and procedures, safety rules and government regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Major Duties/Critical Tasks:
- Responsible for district employees adhering to the values of The Nicholson Nine.
- Directs and coordinates activities of supervisors and other personnel in the district.
- Maintains presence in the facility; ensures all critical procedures are understood and being consistently followed.
- Maintains facility excellence in mechanical integrity and preventative maintenance plans.
- Responsible for the reliability of their facility and transportation equipment to ensure the safety of their employees and satisfaction of their customers.
- Drives completion of internal and external audit action items.
- Reviews staffing needs and leads efforts to recruit and train personnel.
- Trains and develops supervisors and employees on the performance of their jobs, empowering them to run the organization without constant oversight.
- Advises supervisors on personnel matters and monitors their compliance with Company policies.
- Creates and implements professional development programs for supervisors and employees.
- Approves operations expenditures within the limits of authority.
- Participates in the preparation and approval of district budgets.
- Enforces compliance with policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations.
- Proactively institutes cost control measures to enhance profitability.
- Supports the commercial organization to address any customer inquiries and complaints.
- Supports corporate engineering in economic justification and project plans for new procedures, services and/or product lines.
- Drives adherence to Management of Change and Corrective and Preventative Action management systems at the district.
- Leads incident investigations at the district; ensures near misses are escalated and addressed to prevent larger incidents.
- Meets with vendors and factory/service representatives to discuss/negotiate services, products, or contracts.

Working conditions
- Employee manages a facility that handles hazardous chemicals.
- Safety glasses are required in warehouse, production, and trucking areas.
- Other personal protective equipment may be required, depending on job function and chemical exposure.
- As facility leader, the employee is expected to respond to plant and customer site issues during off-hours as needed.
- Some travel is required.
QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred. College basics required.
Experience: Five to seven years management at chemical processing and/or distribution facility. Knowledge of compressed gas manufacturing and packaging a plus.
