Job Purpose
The Purchasing Coordinator supports the PWR NA facility by performing all duties related to purchase order entry and post-entry supply chain tracking. This role interacts with internal personnel as a liaison between supply orders and demand orders, coordinates material needs with foreign and domestic suppliers, and maintains pricing and delivery scheduling. This key role is responsible for organizing all activities associated with the purchasing process, creating purchase orders, monitoring transportation/ delivery, understanding material invoices, and performing associated follow-through to ensure materials needs are maintained for overall operations efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary
· Facilitate the acquisition of company supplies and equipment, ensuring orders are accurately placed in a timely manner to avoid a shortage of vital inventory
· Perform documentation and system steps to ensure purchasing activity is properly recorded
· Maintain material accuracy by verifying purchased materials are received in correct condition and quantity, with proper pricing associated
· Research and monitor best options for material purchases to ensure top quality and cost effect vendors are in place
· Communicate with contacts throughout the company for supply orders, keeping those employees up to date on the status of orders in process and assisting with necessary material concerns or returns
· Develop relationships with suppliers to maintain top level supplier support and resolve delivery and quality concerns as needed
· Work closely with the accounting department to resolve problems with invoices
· Coordinate with the accounting department to set up accounts with new vendors while being the point of contact within the company for any vendor inquiries or issues
· Communicate and work with all required teams as needed for overall planning and continuous improvement
· Support all IATF 16949, AS 9100, and ISO 9001 requirements and quality objectives
· Work with quality to maintain an approved supplier list and communicate quality flow down requirements to suppliers
· Understand the scope of suppliers in order to located material and supplies effectively
Secondary
· Cross train on overlapping job functions

Qualifications
· Experience in material control and standard purchasing practices and procedures
· Strong computer skills and comfortable using Microsoft Office and ERP databases
· Process oriented, with ability to effectively organize various tasks in parallel
· Able to work independently, with effective judgement in appraising situations, with strong problem-solving skills and with the ability to make quick decisions
· Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize multiple requests
· Strong customer service skills
· Attention to detail
· Ability to thrive under pressure
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral
· Professional work attitude and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal co-workers and industry contacts
· Good math skills
Education / Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent
· 3 years of experience
Working Conditions
· Position is located in a production shop setting
· Environmentally controlled work area
