The Operations Manager is a proactive, strategic thinker whose skills contribute to the efficient, systematic and profitable operation of the branch's technical department. Provides overall leadership and direction to all installation technicians as well as inspectors and service technicians in the absence of a service or inspection manager. Manages local scheduling and real-time operations which facilitate the maximization of resources (human and automated) to achieve customer satisfaction, productivity, schedule adherence and economic goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversees daily activities of installation, service, and scheduling personnel to maximize scheduling and real-time utilization of resources. Each project that has a contract value in excess of $50,000 shall be reviewed for any additional savings through reduction in design requirements, equipment purchases, installation team selections and previous customer relationships
- Facilitates Jobs In Progress (JIP) or Work In Progress (WIP) meetings weekly
- Coordinates and executes JIP/WIP meetings - ensure sales, inventory, technical, and administrative staff are included and all issues for each job is addressed
- Responsible for technical completion of all installation and parts and smarts projects. Advises GM of jobs with parts and materials in excess of $50,000 which may be subject to discounting opportunities
- Provides necessary support to the sales department when requested. Offers support for bid processes on jobs that require walks and retrofits. Operations manager reviews and approves of any project estimate which exceeds $50,000 prior to any formal offer being released from sales representative
- Provides input and identifies needs and receives direction on real-time staffing increases or decreases
- Oversee daily activities of service and inspection department and manage scheduling personnel to maximize scheduling and real-time utilization of resources
- Assess branch performance regarding quality of work and customer satisfaction
- Responsible for the oversight of the respective design operations in support of all system sales. Is responsible for consistent communications on the development and production efforts by the design department to meet or exceed design objectives and related estimates to increase gross profit
- Interfaces with sales, administration, and branch management to ensure smooth coordination of scheduling, schedule adherence and project progress through completion; provides daily, weekly, monthly and annual planning progress meetings as appropriate
- Follows up on escalated customer service issues or complaints and ensures satisfactory resolution
- Maintain and develop relationships with both customers and the community
- Attends and contributes to company-wide operations manager meetings annually or as required
Education/Qualification:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or minimum of 5 years' work experience in the fire and/or security protection industry
- Superior customer service skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must read and speak English
- Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable, and well organized
- Must have the ability to self-supervise
- Must demonstrate proficiency in the use of personal computers including programs such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Must pass criminal background check and random drug screenings
- Must have a valid drivers license with good driving record

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access and navigate the production facility.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
